Kafka Hibino is the central protagonist of "Kaiju No. 8," a manga series that blends action, sci-fi, and a touch of humor. Despite his current job, Kafka harbors a long-standing dream of joining the Defense Force to combat the monstrous kaiju that threaten humanity. This aspiration is fueled by a promise he made with his childhood friend, Mina Ashiro, who has already become a renowned kaiju exterminator.

Kafka's life takes a dramatic turn when he is unexpectedly transformed into a kaiju himself. This transformation is both a curse and a blessing; while he gains incredible strength, agility, and regenerative abilities, he must also conceal his true identity to avoid becoming a target for the Defense Force he aspires to join. Kafka adopts the codename "Kaiju No. 8" due to his newfound form and becomes a fugitive with a mission to protect humanity from kaiju threats.
